I have been meditating on this scripture for the past 5days and it has been 5days of re-living my past, yet in the process, being purified and coming to face the truth as it is. For the past 10 years, in my walk with Jesus, I was not growing because I took everything so lightly. I would sin and just be fine about it, knowing that God is there to forgive me. And besides...I'm not perfect! "I'm not perfect", isn't that every Christians favourite line? You'd swear that it is in the bible. We continually sin and expect God to expand us. We fornicate and expect God to bless us with a loving husband. We are jealous but we expect God to bless us with gifts. We want to have money and be wealthy but we steal from other people? We do all these thing and we expect to walk righteously with God?
God hates sin. He cannot work or dwell where there is sin. I mean it is okay to love God, go to church and tell others about His grace.But what good does it do you if you do all that but still living in sin. All that sin does, is bring pain and suffering in peoples lives. A life filled with disappointments, sadness and uncertainties. It is okay for a fornicator to love God and worship Him, but the fornicator will always be on the same place for years and not progressing in life. Year after year, she will always be complaining about men who sleep with her and leave her afterwards. Year after year she will have to deal with sexual transmitted diseases or unwanted pregnancies. Year after year she will feel unworthy of herself because of how she has allowed men to disrespect herself and year after year, she will feel that her purpose on earth is done. Year after year it is the same cycle with no change but emotional breakdown and decreased value. It is okay for an adulterer to attend as many home cells as possible, but he will always have problems in his marriage, always end up in divorces and always have broken families. See, when we sin and please our fleshly desires, we will reap destruction. The world has nothing good to offer, but emotional and physical pain, not forgetting a non-existing spiritual life. It is okay to go to church every Sunday and try to entertain yourself, but if you are living in sin constantly and willingly, your spirit man does not exist. You are just a body walking around trying to do things your own way, and you have created in your own mind the kind of "God" that you want to have.A Santa clause god? A fairytale god? A god which you are not serious with!
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
God takes sin so seriously, He cannot tolerate it. He is too holy! God says, BE holy For I the Lord Your God am holy. The above verse from Galatians 5;19-21 clearly states that if we do all these things, we will not inherit the Kingdom of God. People like saying that going to church will not get you into heaven. And it is true, the things of God are deep! Do you strive for purity and do you stand your ground when you feel tempted? Forget about Satan for now and how he wants you down. It is about you and your obedience to follow what is written in the bible. God will not allow us to be tempted more than we can bear. So when you give in, do not blame anybody else but you for not standing on God's word.
God's way is not easy but it has the best rewards. You are not going to be liked by many. You are not going to have a lot of company. You can't sit around get drunk and try to please the people of this world to love you. When you follow God's plan you know that you cannot sleep with a married man for money and try to look good for the world. You cannot lie about somebody else to make yourself look better in the world. You cannot gossip about another person to boost your ego. You cannot watch porn and masturbate all day long! Instead you strive for productiveness because you know that God is at work in you!You try so hard, with prayer and fasting to block the things that do not align with God's plan. When you take sin seriously, you tend to avoid any kind of spiritual, mental, emotional and physical pollution. You will be careful of what comes out of your mouth, what goes into your mind, and where your affections lie.If you truly are serious about sin, you will run away from it and pursue righteousness and amazing things will start to happen in your life. Whatever it is that God has said about you in His word, It will be done according to His plan and purpose! You are a child of God, you were bought for a price. Jesus has amazing things in store for you! Be blessed!
