Consistency
During the
festive holiday season I visited quite a number of places, I am in
Schweizer-Reneke as we speak! Let me admit, staying in tune with God when you
move from place to place is not easy at all! Sometimes I was not able to pray
at certain times for a certain amount of time because I always had people with
me! As a believer you will have to risk the fact that people will find you weird
at times when you do certain things like pray for a long time, or always read
your bible, or always talking about Jesus! But how else can you keep
consistency in your walk with Christ? (Yea, let none that wait
on thee be ashamed…Psalm 25:3). Communing less with God will keep you
away from Him! Sometimes you won’t see the importance to keep praying, or
spending time in the Word, yes, at times you won’t even feel Him but by faith
you have to keep pressing on! I had to get up many nights when everybody else
was asleep to show God how serious I am about this vision and my relationship
with Him! You should never make time for relaxation if you are pursuing the
will of God! Your vision will get blurry if you don’t keep a constant union
with God and for you to be fruit bearing you should maintain consistency! See,
the devil knows the light in you and it is important that you don’t forget that
you have that light too! The devil’s aim is to drift you away from God by
keeping you busy and presenting opportunities when you have take time with God!
He won’t really cause you to commit the “obvious sins” but he will cause you to
commit the greatest error, and that is spending less time with God! When this
happens you slowly conform to the world around you! All of a sudden keeping
pure thoughts won’t be important anymore! You begin now speaking like the world
speaks! All of a sudden your actions contradict your belief and you end up
facing an identity crisis! Who are you!? You will find that as you move from
place to place you face a different kind of temptation but never forget who you
are and where God took you from!
Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck
my feet out of the net! Psalm 25:15
What are you searching for?
(Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened unto you! Mathew 7:7).
What are you searching for?
Before I got saved I used to like watching pornography! I’d just go onto Google
and search for anything that had to do with porn! “Oral sex” for an example!
And I got exactly what I wanted, even in abundance! I also used to associate
myself with people, who used to send me an abundance of porn, this was normal!
I searched for what I wanted and I got it in abundance! Now ever since I gave my
life to Jesus I go onto Google and type in something different! “How to stay
pure” for an example, and I get my information in abundance! I have read Smith
Wigglesworth sermons for free, A.W Tozer, and other influential preachers of
God’s Word! The more I get, the more I get! Does that make sense? Yea? If you
desire to work for God you have to search for “stuff” that will make you
effective in your ministry! Not only on Google, but also in real life! You will
always get what you desire! If all that you search for is immorality,
immorality is all that you will know! Fornication, masturbation, pornography,
all this will be normal in your own little world! It will actually be hard for
you to believe that there are actually people out there who don’t do what you
think is normal! When I began searching for the things of God, I was quite
shocked when I saw how many people are actually pursuing purity and striving
for holiness, i.e.: bloggers, authors, church mates and etc! Just like somebody
who regularly visits the same porn site, I am also regularly on my knees saying
the same prayer! God, it’s me again! It’s not my brother, it’s not my sister,
but me, knocking on the doors of heaven, seeking your face, and asking for an outpouring
of your Holy Spirit!
Stick to the basics…
(And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover! Mark 16:17-18).
I am one of those believers who likes praying in the middle of the night! And praying in the stillness of the night can get quite spooky trust me!!! You just hear sounds and imagine things and all this will disrupt your quality time with God! I used to think that I’ve reached a stage in my life where I am so holy to the point of seeing angels or see Jesus face to face! These imaginations used to scare me a lot though! With my eyes closed I’d just imagine somebody standing at the door or two tall people standing right behind me and I’d just open an eye, if not both, to see if this was true! Such distraction!! Imagining things always gave the devil a platform to instill fear in me and if you are going to work for God you cannot afford to walk, live or even pray in fear! Having these kinds of imaginations always led me to quickly rush through my prayer in the middle of the night and go straight back to bed, having not accomplished anything during that time with God! (For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind! 2Timothy 1:7). The fear vanished when I learned to stick to the commission above! I don’t need a sign to see how “spiritual” I am! Jesus never said, “And these signs wil follow those who believe: In my name, they will see my face, they will see angels, they will go into a trance, they will walk through walls, they will see any type of glitter or dust on their heads..” All these would honestly be an awesome experience but they are not the kind of things we should be seeking after! (…An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it…Mathew 12:39). When the devil sees that your primary goal is to get a sign he will present a counterfeit convincing that you are “very spiritual” and on the right path when actually you are not! When I pray I tell my God that I am not looking for a sign, I am looking for His face! I can spend hours without falling, without feeling chills on my body, and it’s still fine! I have learned to trust God not by imaginations or feelings, but by His Word! Now I can be up most hours of the night in prayer, with my eyes shut or opened, but I will not fear anything because know that God will not do anything to scare me, fear comes from the devil!
Doing God’s work is not an easy or obvious task! You need to draw wisdom and strength daily right from the throne room of heaven! You need the power source directly from God’s right hand and nowhere else! You have to stay real, yet alert at all times! To have nations listen when you present the gift in you to them, you have to be in partnership with God! The kind of person that you know, if God was to take a trip, He would leave you in charge of His bride that is those people who continually pray and seek His face! There’s a need for more fasting and praying, don’t you think?
Part 3 of Working for God will be up soon!!
