No Holiday for you!

This past week we celebrated so many Public Holidays in South Africa. On public holidays or weekends all that I want to do is relax, watch movies and sleep as much as I want. I also tend not to pray as much as I do like when I have to go to campus or anywhere else. For somebody who wants to follow Jesus' plan , there is no resting or "holiday" when it comes to prayer. The Devil is always roaming around, looking for someone to devour! He will get you if you are not always alert and on guard.

When we follow God's plan we become spiritual warriors and prayerful intercessors. We use every opportunity we get to pray for ourselves, pray for our loved ones, pray for our enemies and most importantly to worship and praise our heavenly father! Once you slack, you give the Devil an opportunity to intoxicate you with the "nice" things of this world. He will whisper in your head, "call your ex, tell him how much you miss him and want him back! It is such a relaxing long weekend, perhaps a bottle of amarula or captain Morgan will do huh? Flirting with somebody online is not really that harmful!  Don't pray man, its not like you are going to leave the house today!" The devil will do whatever it takes to remind you of your past and if you are not prayerful, you will give in. Listen, this is not easy, this is not a game! It may seem harmless but it will have a really powerful effect sooner or later.

When Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane with Hid disciples, he told them to keep watch and pray! For the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak! As soon as we open our eyes in the morning the battle begins! The Spirit wants to do what is right but the flesh opposes the will of God that is why it is important to pray at all times! Everyday, every morning, every evening and whenever you get the chance to do so. The Devil comes with his lies and deceptions to make you believe that prayer is not that much necessary at times but we constantly have to pray without ceasing! The devil cannot stand a prayerful person. There is something about prayer that activates certain things, for us. While you are busy day dreaming about your former lovers, you could be praying and receiving your breakthrough! While you are busy getting drunk, you could be praying and standing in the gap for your family members who need to experience the love of God! You could be releasing your blessings, your peace and all that is good that comes from God! As soon as you become lazy in prayer, you are giving Satan the pave way to go through! He will use whatever opportunity He gets because he doesn't want to see you living the life God destined for you! He came to kill, steal and destroy! Do not underestimate his power, but most importantly, DO NOT underestimate the power that works IN YOU!

Lastly, something which I'm really forgetful at, is the armour of God! From Ephesians 6;10-18

10 Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power.11 Put on all the armour that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil's evil tricks.12 For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age.13 So put on God's amour now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.
14 So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate,15 and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of peace.16 At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One.17 And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you.18 Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people.

This verse reminds me that we are not fighting against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers of this dark age. So when we pray, a lot of things are taking place in the spirit. We might not see them but Jesus is working on your behalf 24/7, in fact He said, It IS FINISHED! Just walk in His plan and See it for yourself!

An Exting way to Pray...

In high school I learned an exciting way to pray at a bible study! Here it is...
Your hand has five fingers and each finger represents somebody you can pray for!

Your thumb is the closest to you, so pray for those who are close to you! ie: your parents, siblings and etc!

Your index finger are those who are almost close to you! That could be your friends, far relatives and etc!

Your middle finger is the longest finger so it represents those who are powerful and big in your society. This could be your president, your ministers and etc!

Your ring finger apparently is the weakest finger, we dont use it as much especially when playing the piano. So this finger represents all those weak people that you know! ie: prisoners, people in hospital and those trying to cope with HIV!

Your pinky is the smallest of them all, and it represents you. When you are finished praying for all those people, pray for yourself because God delights in your requests and He wants to meet ALL of them according to His riches and glory!
 Get started!! Be blessed!

Lol isnt that some cute fingers!

ANOTHER FUN WAY TO PRAY! C.A.S.T!

C-Confess your sins!

A-Adore God(worship)

S-Supplication(pray for others)

T-Thanksgiving(Thank God for the things He's doing in you life!
